About
Hey, I'm Stacey (he/him/siya), California licensed marriage and family therapist based in San Francisco, California. I offer online individual counseling and specialize in serving adults who identity as Black, Indigenous, People of Color. My clinical specialties include anxiety, depression, life transitions (e.g., immigration, acculturation, and grief/loss (human/companion animal loss), and relationships. Communities I have experience with include immigrants (documented and undocumented), vegans (PROUD vegan since June 2019)/vegetarians, LGBTQI+, artists, and tech workers. Services available in Tagalog.
My approach to therapy is based on acceptance, compassion, and values-oriented action. Formally, it's called Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), which is an evidence-based form of therapy used for anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationships among other things. I resonate with the spirit of ACT because the focus isn't on symptom management, but rather living more intentionally and meaningfully based on values. Simultaneously, I ACT through the lens of cultural humility.
My therapeutic style is direct, yet tactful- kind, polite, and I appreciate including a sense of humor when given an opportunity. My natural disposition is to listen carefully and let you do the talking, but I'm also active, so expect a natural, fluid back and forth between us. Though used sparingly, I'm known to use profanity- but never directed at the client... of course. Because therapy is your time and space, I let you set the agenda for each session.
A little bit about me, I was born in Manila, Philippines and I was raised in San Francisco, California. When I'm not working, I love kicking it at home, reading a non-fiction book (usually about psychology, veganism, or money), enjoying a good coffee, and playing baseball on the Switch. I also enjoy watching movies in the theatre and going for long leisurely urban walks with my partner.
Salamat and let's connect soon!
