About
Hi there! My name is Maxine Soriano (she/her) and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, my family roots are in Mandaluyong and Medina, and I now call the Bay Area home. As a first-generation Filipina-American, my path to this work is deeply personal. I know firsthand what it’s like to balance deep family loyalty with your own individuality while carrying the heavy pressure to succeed. My goal is to provide a warm, social justice-oriented space where our cultural nuances are understood without you having to explain them.
In my practice, I work with first-generation and BIPOC millennial professionals—the high-achievers who look like they have it all together but are secretly drowning in anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, and family expectations. My style is direct, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I'm right there in the trenches with you, helping you heal childhood wounds, set solid boundaries, and unlearn the pressure to "do it all."
My background is built on intense, frontline experience. Before private practice, I worked in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, community clinics, and with justice-involved individuals—a space that fueled my deep passion for criminal justice reform. This work gave me a profound, trauma-informed understanding of systemic stress, oppression, and true resilience. In our sessions, I blend deeper processing (like IFS and Psychodynamic therapy) with practical tools (CBT and DBT) for immediate anxiety relief.
When I’m not working, I love staying active and will play any and all sports. On quieter days, you can find me getting cozy while I crochet, reading a good book, gaming, or hanging out with my two cats, Minu and Momo.
Let’s work together to rewrite your story—I can't wait to connect!
