About
As a first-generation immigrant who moved to Turtle Island as a toddler with my parents to find a stable way of life from the Philippines, I hold the experience of displacement and occupier. The challenges of growing up without many other Filipinos or Asians in the mid-west (Michigan) in the 80's while I and my family assimilated to survive in an oppressive white culture has shaped much of my focus on addressing identity and how white supremacy impacts that for immigrants and later generations.
I continue to learn, staying humble and curious, and hope to collaborate with those who work with me to grow together in support of healing and care for ourselves and our communities.
I work towards building a world of abolition where community and collective care is funded and not police or prisons. Challenging carceral mentality and how we can grow processes of Restorative and Transformative Justice for all.
Systemic oppression and societal impacts on individuals and their families to challenge colonial westernized individualistic blame is what I wish to uphold as I work with people to find healing and well-being.
