About

Kamusta/Kumusta? I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Southern California for the last 22 years but born and raised in Cagayan de Oro and later moved to Quezon City to attend University (Go Blue Eagles!).

I specialize in relationship therapy using EFT (attachment-based therapy) among families and couples. I help the Filipinx adults build a closer relationship with their immigrant parents, I empower Filipinx parents to help manage their child's "big feelings", and assist Filipinx co-parents work through their own relationship hurts to center their care on their children. I help families listen and hear each other and instead of “blowing up”, build empathy and closeness instead. I also help Filipinx individuals build a closer relationship with themselves, working through the hurt of their "inner child" and come closer to healing.

My practice is unique in that I collaborate with the client with a holistic approach; we work on accessing negative schemas, suppressed emotions, and untapped bodily sensations to increase self-awareness.

I often incorporate mindfulness, grounding, deep breathing as way to help cope with trauma reactions, using my years of yoga practice. I also use a collaborative approach, often soliciting feedback from clients about treatment and progress. I use a nurturing and reflective approach; I've likened it to taking the scenic route as opposed to taking a short cut. Many of my other clients share that they often feel validated, heard and understood in our sessions and feel more aware and present about how they show up in their day to day lives.

Much of my training and experience has been trauma-informed and among kids, teens and families, having worked in community mental health and domestic and interpersonal violence and sexual assault centers.

Currently, I have my own private practice based in Los Alamitos, California where I see clients virtually and in-person. I am also licensed to practice telehealth in Vermont.
