About
I am a second-generation Filipina-Californian Millennial clinical social worker currently based in Seattle, WA. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, CA and most of my early work experiences were in the education and public health realms. I love cooking, baking, spending time with loved ones, traveling, hanging out with my dog, and getting into a good show. I pursued a career in mental health because of my own challenges with unhealthy family dynamics, trudging my way through self-healing alone and in relationships, and figuring out that I'm a good listener. Since moving to Seattle in 2019 I have worked in the gender-based violence field in varying roles: direct services/housing stability case management, grants & contracts, program management. My clinical experience includes working as an emergency department social worker and as a private practice therapist. My overall therapeutic approach is integrative —I allow each client to guide the therapeutic space and I‘ll offer relevant psychoeducation as it comes up. I am relational— the relationship between myself and a client is seen as a significant element of the healing process, as the therapeutic relationship develops clients can explore and understand their relational patterns. I believe that a therapeutic relationship is non-hierarchical— there is an implied power dynamic between therapist and client but I am only human too. I see my own therapist regularly (and have previously received EMDR treatment), and I consult with peers often! I am direct but warm, more pragmatic than theoretical. I prefer bottom-up therapy, which emphasizes identifying somatic/sensory responses to stressors (body), than top-down therapy which focuses on cognition and reframing experiences of stressors (brain). As a therapist I view my role as providing a safe container to process, explore, grieve, and feel through the vastness of humanity and to bear witness to all that comes with it. I hope to provide a soft place to land.
